The hill station of Salkeshpur, found in the slopes of the Western Ghats’ mountain range, is filled with breathtaking sights, from the beauty of the endless coffee, tea, and spice plantations, to rarities such as the Manjarabad Fort. This 2 day and 1 night experience lets you trek through this hill station, starting with a trip to the Sakleshpur base camp to meet your guide. You will be given a rundown of the experience and all that you have to look forward to, which begins immediately after breakfast. You first tackle Agni Gudda, where your journey takes you to its splendid peak. After some relaxation and interaction with your fellow travelers before you head back down. Coffee is one of the biggest industries of the area, and a visit to a plantation is up next. You can see the workers plucking the coffee beans from the plants and processing them. At the basecamp, you can enjoy some lunch, which you will need to fortify yourself as you head to the Magajahalli Waterfalls. The beautiful surroundings of the gushing water, greenery and shining leaves is a perfect place to take a breather, before you return back to basecamp and enjoy a campfire activity with all the other campers. Get some rest after dinner, as you rise early for breakfast and to the shared coach that will take you to a true cultural wonder: the Manjarabad Fort, an immense, spawling star-shaped fort. This beautiful green structure was built by Tipu Sultan in the 1700s, and as you walk through it, you’ll uncover its stories, hear about the famous names that have walked where you walk, and the splendid military and cultural history behind it. It’s the best final stop for your trip, and you can take its enchantment with you as you head safely back to Bangalore.
Itinerary:
Day 1:
- 9:30pm board the shared coach from the first meet up point (Kalamandir, Marathahalli). Guests have the option of boarding the coach anywhere on the route as mentioned in the pick up schedule below
- 5:30am the following day, reach Sakleshpur base camp to take a break and meet the guide, and get insights about the trek and enjoy breakfast
- 9:30am start the trek towards the Agni Gudda
- 11:30am reach the peak and relax
- 12:15pm start trekking down and visit a coffee estate
- 2:00pm approximately, reach the basecamp and enjoy lunch
- 3:00pm visit to the Magajahalli Waterfalls and spend time there, enjoy the gurgling sound of a waterfall along with its scenic and enticing beauty
- 6:00pm return back to the basecamp and relax in the homestay
- 6:30pm enjoy tea and snacks along with outdoor games with your camp companions
- 8:00pm approximately, light up the campfire, listen to music and relax or spend some quality time with your companions
- 9:30pm approximately, enjoy hot delicious dinner
- Retire for the night
Day 2:
- 6:00am wake up and enjoy bed tea
- Take an early walk around the local area
- 8:30am enjoy the local breakfast
- 10:00am approximately, pack up and board the shared coach to head towards Manjarabad Fort
- Visit Manjarabad Fort and explore, learn about the fort and its stretagic advantages
- 11:30am depart for Bangalore by shared coach
- 1:00pm approximately, enjoy lunch (at your own expense)
- Continue the journey towards Bangalore
- 10:00pm approximately, drop off at the meeting point
